Other Web Resources

If you need to create and maintain Web content and your site isn't appropriate for the Web CMS, have hope! The campus offers other Web content management resources and services:

Faculty research and personal sites

Smartsite

This campus service is free to use and is maintained by Information and Educational Technology (IET). IET provides training and support on using Smartsite. This tool offers many features of interest to a research site. It is also the primary campus resource for maintaining course related Web sites and offers more teaching-related features than the Web CMS. More information can be found at the SmartSite website.

Campus Virtual Web hosting

The campus provides a centrally maintained virtual web hosting service that provides an environment where a custom website can be maintained. It provides access to database and PHP for web-enabled database and application development. It can easily host WordPress (practically at the click of a button!). So if you have some Web experience or have staff or students who do, this may be a solution. There is a cost to use the service ($80 per year per instance). For more information on this service, contact IT Professional Services.

Academic Technology Services

This unit of IET provides many services for faculty, including Web development. More information can be found at the ATS website.

UC Davis Health System

The UC Davis Health System (UCDHS) has its own Web CMS service. More information can be found at the UCDHS Web Guide and Standards site.

Student club sites

The campus will soon provide an environment for hosting and maintaining student club websites. More information is available at the Center For Student Involvement website.
